God and potty training

You may be wondering how is God related to potty training. Well,  yesterday while I was thinking about emailing a friend of mine who is going through a hard time, God showed me that sometimes He acts in our lives the same way as I potty trained my son. Last week, I realized that he was ready to take that big step. So  I took his diaper off and let him have several “accidents”so he would end up going potty. It didn’t mean that he was all by himself. I was always next to him to take him potty, to wipe him, to encourage him to do it.  I never left him alone. Certainly Ethan didn’t like to be moved from his “comfort diaper zone”, but wearing undies and having “accidents” made him grow enormously. Today he’s a big boy. This process made me think about how God treats us during difficult times. He knows when we’re ready to experience some difficulties in order to grow spiritually as never before. It doesn’t mean that He will leave us alone during this time. Even if we don’t feel him, He is right there showing us His eternal love through people around us, giving us hope through his Word, providing us his daily mercies and grace. Lets keep that on mind while we are going through “potty training times.”
